LNL: PROF. MIGUEL ASUAJE - TWO PHASE FLOW RESEARCH AT USB
LABORATORI NAZIONALI DI LEGNARO
Nowadays, different technological applications in a wide range of industries are related with flow of mixtures of different fluids, better known as multiphase flow. Multiphase flow is mainly associated with energy industries such as: oil companies and Nuclear Plants. Particularly in the operations associated with gas and oil production, water and sand are also present throughout the production process, ranging from reservoir to storage tanks. Today, in contrast to the understanding of phenomena in single-phase flow, the physical aspects of handling multiphase flows leads to big questions. Consequently, the coexistence of two or more phase in the process of: pumping, transport, separation and storage, promotes the development of analytical and experimental techniques that allow a better understanding of the physics associated. For several years, at USB Venezuela, The Energy Convesion Lab team has been developing some projects trying to understand this complex phenomenon and giving technical support to the local energy industries. The more relevant researchs developed at USB-Lab will be presented, for showing the differents approachs used to study this relevant topic.
