LNL: DR. PHILIPP JOHN - NUCLEAR STRUCTURE INVESTIGATIONS OF LOW-LYING VALENCE-SHELL EXCITATIONS IN 86KR AND 90SR
LABORATORI NAZIONALI DI LEGNARO
The isotopes 88-96Sr and 90-98Zr form the region of lowest collectivity between 56Ni and 204-210Pb with a unique behaviour of their B(E2) values. The nuclear structure of the lowest excited states is strongly influenced by neutron and proton subshell closures which tend to stabilize spherical configurations. The nucleus 90Sr is also interesting for the investigation of mixed proton-neutron symmetry: the second 2+ of 90Sr is a candidate for a MSS. In the campaign U246 at the UNILAC (GSI) lifetimes and g-factors of the low-lying excited states in 86Kr and 90Sr have been measured using DSAM and the Transient Field technique after population of these states in a Coulex (86Kr) and α-transfer (90Sr) reaction. The results will be presented and the applicability of α-transfer reactions for populating MSS will be discussed.
