LNL: I.M. GOVIL, INDIAN NATIONAL NEUTRON ARRAY AND STUDY OF FAST FUSION-FISSION DYNAMICS
LABORATORI NAZIONALI DI LEGNARO
Neutrons are the most prevalent particles emitted in heavy ion induced nuclear reactions and thus provides an excellent tool in investigating nuclear properties in diverse areas ranging from the study of nuclei close to the drip line, sequential particle decay, multi-neutron halos, collective excitations in neutron rich systems, nuclear level densities, fast fusion-fission dynamics and survival properties of heavy and super heavy nuclei. In the present talk a short review will be given about different type of neutron array and their applications with special emphasis on Indian National Neutron Array (INNA) proposed at Nuclear Science Center New Delhi India. The use of neutron detectors in the study of fusion-fission time scales will be discussed along with the experiments planned not only to study the neutron multiplicities but also the distributions with the aim of connecting these with the fusion-fission lifetime distributions and entrance channel effects.
