EPICS is a set of software tools which provide a framework to build distributed control systems using a graphical approach. EPICS is freely distributed and supported by a large community of Institutions and Laboratories around the world. This seminar will cover some specific topics concerning with the usage of asynchronous devices (like RS232/485 or GPIB based instruments) and, in particular, will present a new model of a general purpose driver that can be suitable for a wide range of control applications.
