LNL: CéSAR CEBALLOS SáNCHEZ, MCNP SIMULATIONS OF SILICON MICROSTRIP DETECTORS FOR DIGITAL ANGIOGRAPHY/MAMMOGRAPHY APPLICATIONS
LABORATORI NAZIONALI DI LEGNARO
A research about digital radiography applications has been carried out using a X-ray dual energy counting system, based on a silicon strip detector and a quasi monochromatic X-ray source. The purpose was to enhance the imaging detail visibility while limiting the dose released to the patient and the contrast media concentrationas well, based on a contrast-enhanced dual-energy subtraction technique. The two main applications have been digital mammography and digital angiography. All the experiments have been performed using a three-component phantom. The results of such a development will be presented and compared to computer-code simulations based on a MCNP transport code system.
