LNL: MIHAI STANOIU, STUDY OF VERY NEUTRON-RICH NUCLEI BY MEANS OF IN-BEAM GAMMA-RAY SPECTROSCOPY
LABORATORI NAZIONALI DI LEGNARO
The structure of nuclei and their fundamental properties are strongly influenced by the shell-closure effects. The study of nuclei far from stability is motivated by the modification of the single-particle energies as approaching the boundary limit. These nuclei have special properties, like the presence of a nucleon halo or cluster-type structures. In this seminar I shall present results obtained at GANIL during the last years using a new technique: in-beam gamma spectroscopy by fragmentation of a stable or a radioactive beam. I shall particularly focus on very neutron-rich nuclei around N=14 and N=16, like 16-20C and 20-24O.
