LNL: DIETER PROCH, FROM TESLA TO ILC: A TECHNOLOGY CHALLENGE FOR RF SUPERCONDUCTIVITY
LABORATORI NAZIONALI DI LEGNARO
RF superconductivity has grown to a mature accelerator technology. Many new projects in the field of electron, proton or heavy ion acceleration are based on this technology. Exiting proposal are directed to FEL application, some including possible energy recover modus. The by far largest proposal is the international liner collider project ILC. After the "cold" technology decision of last year the global linear collider effort is unified by ILC. The TESLA technology is the baseline of this accelerator project. In this talk on overview will be given of the state of the art of RF superconductivity for accelerators, present and future planned projects will be described and the tremendous challenges of ILC will be discussed.
