LNL: V. SUBRAMANIAN, RELAXOR FERROELECTRICS
LABORATORI NAZIONALI DI LEGNARO
Relaxor ferroelectrics are the class of materials having diffused phase transition. The dielectric response clearly differs from the normal ferroelectrics due to the formation of polar micro regions (PMR). The origin of the PMR is not totally understood and at present reasons are attributed to inhomogenities in composition and structure. This talk gives the overall background behind the lead based complex perovskite relaxors with emphasis on the barium substituted lead yetterbium niobate and lead yetterbium tantalite. The complete variation of dielectric response and Raman spectroscopy are discussed with the help of x-ray diffraction data.
