LNL: LUIGI FERRARI, STUDY OF THE THERMAL AND STRUCTURAL BEHAVIOR OF SPES TARGET. A COMPARISON RESULT USING SOME DIFFERENT FORM OF DISTRIBUTION BEAM ALONG THE RADIUS.
LABORATORI NAZIONALI DI LEGNARO
The components of the SPES target are subjected at very high condition of stress and temperature for the material involved. The proton beam, that come from the cyclotron, collide the uranium carbide discs that cause a very high generation of heat due principally for the stopping power deposition. This power deposition, is strongly dependent on the distribution of the density particle along the radius that, in first place was suppose constant, but in a real case assume a form like a “hump camel”. This seminar will present a result in term of thermal stress and temperature gained with some distributions of density particle in the aim to establish some of the requirements of the cyclotron that will be used in SPES or talking about this.
