LNL: MARIA DONCEL, CONCEPTUAL DESIGN OF A HIGH RESOLUTION GE ARRAY FOR THE DESPEC EXPERIMENT

The DESPEC (Decay SPECtroscopy) experiment, which is part of the NUSTAR programme (NUclear Structure, Astrophysics and Reactions) at FAIR (Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research) in GSI, will be devoted to investigate nuclear structure by means of beta decay and isomeric decay. It consists of an implantation detector (AIDA), a high resolution Ge array and a neutron detector. In the talk, the study performed by Monte Carlo simulations of the conceptual design of the Ge array proposed for DESPEC will be presented. The simulations show how the best approach for a system with good performances, in terms of tracking and imaging, is obtained coupling the high efficiency AGATA array with a set of Ge Double Sided Stripped Detectors.
