TO: CONFORMAL INTERFACES IN STRING THEORY AND CONDENSED MATTER PHYSICS
SESZIONE DI TORINO I will discuss the physics and mathematics
of conformal interfaces, which are scale-invariant
junctions of two conformal field theories.
These can be realized in low-dimensional condensed-matter
systems, such as quantum wires or the quantum Hall
effect. I will explain their intriguing mathematical
properties, and how they can be used as symmetry
generators of classical string field theory.
