LNL: J. DELTORO, PULSED POWER SYSTEM AND TEMPERATURE ACQUISITION SYSTEM FOR FUTURE SILICON SENSORS
LABORATORI NAZIONALI DI LEGNARO
During the internship period in the IFIC (Instituto de Física Corpuscular), I have developed a system for powering silicon sensors and another system to acquire the temperature of different parts of these sensors. These systems are part of a development of the silicon sensors technology for detection of particles in the innermost region of a particles detector. The power consumption density of those detectors is elevated so new techniques of power pulsing are needed as well as temperature control system to monitor the temperature distribution. To avoid heating, only power supply is done when there are collisions between particles, that is, 1ms every 200ms. This power pulsed system is modular and multichannel, capable of generating pulses of different voltages, different durations and frequencies. It can generate a voltage and current maximum output of 40 V and 250 mA or 10 V and 1.5 A, depending on the output stage. This system is configured by default to generate pulses of 1 ms every 200 ms. It consists mainly of 4 types of PCB interlinking: the control stage, the input stages, the output stages and backplane interconnect. In turn, the control stage includes a control PCB and card Arduino Mega microcontroller. The temperature acquisition system is capable to perform 72 reading thermistors. The system records every second, the value of 72-channel readout. It is designed to read temperatures between 10 ºC and 60 ºC. It is mainly composed of a part hardware and software on the other. The hardware part, in turn, is composed of an acquisition card and Arduino Mega. These are not the only studies that are being done. This is part of a great collaboration of various institutes and universities, and this is a part of the development of sensors to be installed in future detectors. The design and development of pulsed power.
