TO: SEMINARIO DI STRINGHE E SUPERGRABITA':DEFORMED GAUGE THEORIES AND THEIR GRAVITY DUALS
SESZIONE DI TORINO
Deformed field theories, that arise from a new definition of the product of fields in the lagrangian, constitute an interesting generalization of the gauge/gravity correspondence. This is because, on the gravity side, there is a systematic procedure to obtain the dual solutions and analyze D-brane probes embedded in the corresponding backgrounds. Examples include the beta-deformed Super Yang-Mills theory, and confining N=1 theories, where the deformation helps with disentangling gauge theory effect from spurious effects due to the Kaluza-Klein modes.
