TO: QUARK DECONFINEMENT AT HIGH DENSITY, IN THE LAB AND IN THE STARS - I
SESZIONE DI TORINO I will review the data and the theoretical analysis concerning
the possible
formation of a mixed phase of hadrons and quarks in experiments testing
high
baryonic densities and also in compact stars. The interplay between
theory and experiments
is becoming more and more strict due to the new detectors on-board x-ray
satellites and
to the possibility of lab experiments of heavy ion scattering at
energies up to a few ten GeV
per nucleon, at which the maximum baryonic density is reached.
