TO: SEMINARIO DI STRINGHE E SUPERGRAVITà:A FIELD THEORETICAL METHOD FOR COMPUTING THE 4-DIM LOW-ENERGY LAGRANGIAN FOR TWISTED OPEN STRINGS IN STRING COMPACTIFICATIONS
SESZIONE DI TORINO We start discussing the properties of magnetized D branes that
have the important property of allowing for fermionic chiral open
strings to describe quarks and leptons of the Standard Model.
We then discuss the problems that one encounters in string theory
for computing in a magnetized brane world the parameters of the
4-dim low energy Lagrangian even in toroidal compactifications.
Then we discuss a field theoretical approch developed by Cremades,
Ibanez and Marchesano that allows to compute them at least in the
field theory limit (zero slope limit).
In particular, we show how to compute the Kaehler metrics
obtaining a result in agreement with the expressions obtained
from instanton calculus.
We conclude discussing some arbitrariness still present in our
method.
