I will discuss a first principle formulation of hydrodynamics using Schwinger-Keldysh partition functions. I will show how the symmetries of the problem can be efficiently implemented using superspace techniques allowing us to writesimple effective actions. I will show how this formalism incorporates the usual phenomenological hydrodynamic formulation in terms of constitutive relations, entropy current etc., as well as how novel constraints on transport arise.
