GE: OBSERVATION OF THE HIGGS BOSON DECAY TO BOTTOM QUARKS: A JOURNEY INTO THE QUEST, AND PROSPECTS FOR THE NEXT CHALLENGES
SEZIONE DI GENOVA
(E. Santopinto) Seminario di Fenomenologia delle particelle elementari, nella prima metà divulgativo. Evento congiunto con l'Universita' di Genova. Speaker: Prof. Paolo Francavilla (Universita' di Pisa) The recent observation of the of the Higgs boson decays to bottom quarks by ATLAS and CMS at the LHC has been an important milestone for the understanding of the physics of the Higgs sector of the Standard Model. The observation was guided by the analyses targeting the production of the Higgs boson in association with a vector boson, observed at the same time of the H->bb decay. The seminar will give an overview of the ingredients needed for these observations, and the implication of this result on the Higgs sector and on searches for BSM effects.
